Yuzhnoye Field

Like Salym, the Yuzhnoye field is located in the prolific Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area  of Western Siberia and lies 60 kilometers southwest of Nizhnyvartovsk (click here for map). Sibir acquired the field in 1999 through the purchase of Magma Oil Company which operates the field.

Yuznhoye Field Facts

  • 84 million barrels of recoverable reserves under Russian classification system up from 51 million barrels when Sibir acquired the field (click here for details on reserves)
  • Since it bought the Yuzhnoye field Sibir has increased production at the field from 4,000 bopd to over 6,500 bopd today
  • Completed new Crude Processing Facility in 2005 to handle increased production volume
  • Crude is Siberian light – 32 API
  • Due to constraints in the national Transneft pipeline system only 40% of crude can be exported. The remaining 60% is sold on the domestic market, primarily to the Moscow Refinery
